Learning activities

This course is available both for distance learning students and campus students at the faculty. The course will be taught the same way as most of the other distance-learning courses at the Faculty of Informatics and e-Learning. The most important elements are:

* Lessons (12 lessons)
* Textbook (selected chapters)
* Exercises (12 exercises) for approval to each lesson (solutions will be made available)
* Presentation and discussion in the course's newsgroup.

Lessons

12 lessons are available in this course. To each lesson, there will be published a text at a certain date on the webpage. The texts are only available in PDF-format. The syllabus consists of the texts, selected parts of the textbook, and exercises.
Exercises

To each lesson an exercise has to be completed and sent by e-mail for corrections. A student cannot attend the examination until at least 8 of the 12 exercises have been approved. Please contact the teacher as early as possible if you are not able to fulfill this requirement. The exercises must be completed individually, and thereafter sent to the student's supervisor or teacher to be corrected. The completed exercise must be handed in at the latest 10 days after the lesson's publishing date. The supervisors will be presented on the course's web-page.

Discussion

Each course has its own discussion group. This is an important medium, thus we hope it will be used frequently. We hope both teachers, supervisors and all of the students will participate. This forum is intended to partly replace the dialogue between the students, the teacher and the supervisors, which usually takes place in a classroom. Remember that there are always others who would like pose a similar question, but who hesitate to ask.
All parties involved in the course have a common responsibility to make this discussion group as interesting as possible. Everybody should feel free to pose questions and try to answer questions.

Good luck with your study. Please use the discussion group often.
