Binary Logic was established in 1986 as a
member of the Malkogianni -Moutsou Group of Companies. Its actual
activities began in 1990, when it entered the Greek market with
educational software, with an annual growth rate of 70%.
The principal capital of Binary Logic Ltd.
is 20.000.000 Drs. ($90.000), and today the company employs 25
people in different sectors: technical support, software development,
training and sales. The annual turnover of the Group for 1994
was 500.000.000 Drs. ($2.000.000).

The project "Network for the provision
of expert services", a Telematique II project, was implemented
successfully. Binary Logic was the prime contractor and the Greek
Productivity Center was the user-organisation.
The project "Quality Improvement
in Software Development Process", an ESSI project, in its
final phase. Part of the project is carried out by the Software
Technology department of the Telecommunications and Computing
Systems Institute of the National Technical University of Athens.
The project "Models for European
Collaboration and Pedagogy in Open Learning", a Socrates
project, is in its first phase. The project's duration is two
years and the contractors are research-educational institutions
and companies from Norway, Great Britain, France and Greece.
The project "Enterprendre pour
l'emploi", an Horizon project (budget 800 Kecu), is in its
first phase. The project's duration is 18 months and the contractors
are state organisations and companies from almost all over EU.
Feasibility studies and needs analysis for
computer-enabled management of companies and organisations
Using its expertise in the area of new
technologies, Binary Logic prepares feasibility studies and needs
analysis for companies and organisations in order to use complete
high technology solutions.
Such a study was prepared for the Hellenic
Police - Archives Department analysing the specific benefits of
an Electronic Document Archiving and Management System.
Consultative services on computer-enabled
subjects
Binary Logic is a registered member
of the experts' directory "Consultancy in the Area of Public
Procurement for DG XV - Internal Market and Financial Services".
Know-how
The technical support department of
Binary Logic supports all installed applications and solutions
of the company throughout Greece with field engineers or through
modems (remote support).
Binary Logic is a Novell Authorised
Reseller and has appropriately trained and certified, by Novell
UK and Novell Italia, personnel for studies, installation and
technical support of networks. For example, Binary Logic has installed
the main server for the network of the Greek branch of INTERPOL.
Some of our engineers have attended
special seminars on the development of software for optical mark
readers (OMR) in England and Germany.
In order to have the most efficient
support in terms of software development, Binary Logic has direct
links with the support departments of the international software
tool developers: Microsoft Corp., Asymmetrix, Sheridan Software
Systems, Crescent Software Inc., Xionics International, Data Techniques
Inc., Sequiter Software.
Binary Logic is a member of the Microsoft
Developer Network Level II, a Commercial Member of the IBM Solution
Developer Program and member of the IBM OS/2 Developer Assistance
Program, in order to have access to pre-release versions of operating
systems, networking software and development tools.
Binary Logic develops custom software
for OMRs for the company Forster Computer which is the largest
manufacturer of OMRs in Germany and the supplier of these systems
for Siemens-Nixdorf.
Hardware
In order to efficiently support its
customers, Binary Logic has 30 Pentium and 486 computers. Five
of these systems are high-end multimedia development workstations
for the MS-Windows platform.
Three LANs (local area networks) are
installed with Novell NetWare, Windows for Workgroups and Windows
95, all interconnected in a large WAN (wide area network) through
two leased lines. There is also an FTP server under Windows NT,
a World Wide Web server under Windows 95 and another system with
Unixware and OSF Motif interface. The Netware server, the NT server
and the Unix server are all connected on the same Ethernet network
(half bus and half star topology). Part of the network supports
100 Mbps connections.
Almost every kind of computer peripheral is also installed, such as color scanners, postscript printers, color printers, DAT drives, magneto-optical drives, tape streamers, OMRs, video and audio capturing systems.
