Prerequisites:
- Normal student qualification , Access to Internet, Knowledge of how to use
a PC, lessons delivered as Web-pages.
Learning activities:
- use of information and communication technology: conferences, hyper-media
- design of web pages.
- installing and configuring web- and FTP-servers
Source of material:
- Assigned textbook is: Mark Surfas and David M.Chandler: Running a Perfect
Web Site with Windows. ISBN 0-7897-0763-2.
The textbook is
published.
- The learning material will be delivered as Web pages. We will use web- and
FTP-servers that will run either on a Windows 3.x or a Windows 95/NT-platform.
Servers are fetched as free evaluation copies from sources on Internet. In
addition there will be established conference system for exchange of
information between students - teachers etc. and where discussions may take
place. This should act as help to create a virtual classroom.
Method of assessment:
- Written exam , 4 hours, 2 credits (one year study provides 20 credits).
Who should attend?
- anyone whos new task is to publish on the Internet
- teachers (in open learning) using Internet as the teaching medium
What new things should the learner be able to do:
- setting up web- and FTP-servers
- develop web pages, including tables, imagemaps, forms and frames
- writing simple serverscripts and understand interfacing of web-technology
to other environments, such as file systems, databases or email systems
- setting up information structures with access control
- simple Java-scripting

- List of actual and recommended literature will be given along the course.
