Modem connected WWW-server
The effect of using a WWW server which is installed on a machine with a
modem connection is that no others can, in practice, use the web server from the
Internet:
- Connection to the Internet is always initiated from the modem side. The
reason for this is that the Internet provider has no interest in paying for the
connection - so the modemuser side must set up the connection.
- When connected - there is a theoretical possibility for other computers on
the Internet to access a www-server on the modem computer. But - since the modem
computer probably will receive different IP-numbers for each connection, there
is no way the possible users can know what IP-number to use.
